Facebook! I haven’t come across anyone who hasn’t heard of it (obviously people who are computer literate). It has stagering 124,000,000 members compared to our biggest Muslim social networking site Muxlim that has 50,000… Not bad, not bad.

Anyway I’ve been coming across a lot of facebook wannabe sites recently, most significantly Xiaonei.com. It looks exactly like Facebook!! Well except it’s Xiaonei and it’s in Chinese. It has over 15,000,000 members. Now who said you can only become big with original ideas?

However take a look at MuslimChatSite, might look like a cheap imatation of MySpace… then again I would say so. What about IslamicArea and MyMuslimPage? They look exactly as MuslimChatSite. Why not personalise the script a bit?

I really like what Muxlim has done and doing, Masha’Allah. It would be great to see few other webmasters persuing the same sort of ambitious attempts as brother Mohamed El-Fatatry and Pietari Päivänen, the founders of Muxlim. Look high the brother have reached in matter of 2 years.

It’s so bloody annoying. I mean half of the stuff on their msn page don’t work, shouldn’t they concentrate of getting the contents links soted before they bother to change hotmail.

Stupid thing gives error when you hit Logout saying: “You’re signing out of the following sites: MSN Account Services” well duh! that’s the reason I clicked your stupid signout button. Then you get two options “Try again or Done”, try again button doesn’t do anything and “Done” button takes you to a page saying: “The page you have requested cannot be found. (http://uk.msn.com/?ocid=hmlogout)” I am sorry but was I even requesting any pages to be showned I just wanted to logoff, stupid idiots.

Also the relocation of mail search bar, just because people don’t like using MSN search don’t mean you confuse people into thinking it’s a mail search bar.

All I can say to Microsoft stop trying to replicate Gmail and Yahoo mail, it won’t make you any better than them, it actually makes you 10 times worse.

We just got 2 new Nokia N78 on contract from o2 because we needed it for the sales team of SALAM Magazine. Ali has the other one. So anyway since it comes with free unlimited WAP, I thought why not utalise it much as I can. So I set it up to receive emails from Gmail. Here are the steps you have to take to receive emails from Gmail straight to your phone like an text message:

Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings.

Select ‘Messaging’ > ‘Options’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘E-mail’ > ‘Mailboxes.’

If you have never set up email on your phone before, select ‘Yes’ to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select ‘Options’ and then ‘New mailbox.’

Select ‘Start’ to begin the setup wizard.

Select ‘IMAP4′ and then ‘Next.’

Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com (in my case it was @sal.am)‘) as the email address and select ‘Next.’

Enter ‘imap.gmail.com’ as the incoming mail server and select ‘Next.’

Enter ’smtp.gmail.com’ as the outgoing mail server and select ‘Next.’

Select the appropriate access point and then ‘Next.’

Enter a descriptive name for the email account mailbox name.

Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.

Select ‘Connection settings’ > ‘Incoming e-mail.’

Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com (again for me it was @sal.am)‘) and password.

Select ‘SSL/TLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ‘993.’

Select ‘Back.’

Select ‘Outgoing e-mail.’

Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com (again @sal.am for me)‘) and password.

Select ‘StartTLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ‘587.’

Select ‘Back’ and change any other settings according to your preferences.

This should work for all Symbian 60 phones. Link to the official instructions. Many thanks to then82blog.

I have always been a max payne fan, since back in (hmmm can’t remember but around) 2001 I bought the PC game Max Payne 1. Now they are making a film out of it… Starring Mark Wahlberg, Chris O’Donnell, Beau Bridges, Ludacris, Mila Kunis, Donal Logue, and Amaury Nolasco. I don’t think Mark Wahlberg would suit the character, he don’t have that action hero look to him. Think Matt Damon would of suited the character more, as he proved himself as an action hero actor from all the Bourne movies. Anyways here is rare poster for Max Payne… Graphically looks stunning:

I know i’m slow, but finally I managed to watch Batman 2. The reason why I took so long was because I wanted to watch it in Imax, and therefore had to wait a extra month. But you know what it was sooo worth it. The film was fantastic!! Joker has to be the most psychotic vilian ever! It’s sad he passed away in real life though, was an exceptional performance. He deserves to win the Oscar, if he gets nominated.

Oh and imax changed the whole look of the cinema just for this film and all the ticket was sold out. Not even one seat was empty, it was all pre-booked. Here’s some pics… I just wanted to try out my new Nokia 6220, it has 5px camera!! Wicked.
